Oil Change: How Soon is Too Soon

Everyone knows that to keep your car running and in good condition, you need to schedule regular maintenance for your car. The golden rule for years was that you get your oil changed every 3000 miles. Recent research has proven that is no longer the truth, so you could be changing your oil too soon based on old knowledge.

Vehicles more recently produced, specifically in the last 25 years, can go longer than 3,000 miles without an oil change. Newer models have a technology called Oil Life Monitors and will let you know when your next oil change should be. Many drivers have reported back saying this feature on average says new oil changes should happen between 7,000 miles to 9,500 miles. This new feature is used by over half of automakers in the industry.

With your next trip to Galesburg Toyota ask if the vehicles are equipped with this technology.
